Ma Jaya teaches from a depth of wisdom and practicality which allows us to return again and again to turn over the words, and bring them into our moment. Ma is a consummate story teller, using words to paint a picture or illustrate a point that otherwise might be hard to grasp. These stories are often simple but profound, similar to the way that Swami Nityananda and Neem Karoli Baba taught.

ILLUSION (MAYA)

The Mother Maya sends an illusion that is very difficult to spot as one travels on this spiritual path. This is the mental illusion of the mind’s heart. The mind gives the impression that it is the heart feeling, when it is only the monkey mind.

It allows you to think that the self has something to do with time and space. The self is beyond time and space.  This place is what your Ma talks about when She says “the space of grace.”  This spirit of the space of grace is determined by your devotional attitude.
If you can say at this moment, “I am an instrument of God and nothing else,” then this day will go very well for you. When you can behold the grandeur of the quiet mind, you will understand the stillness of this space of grace. There are many mountains to climb in spirituality. These mountains are on the path of spirituality.  When you can say, “I am an instrument in the divine hands of the Mother,” then the mountains are so much easier to scale.

Learning about the Beloved’s love is the first step toward the ecstasy of sadhana, the practice of spirituality.  Being a good Christian or a good Jew or a good anything has nothing to do with going to church or temple or gurdwara.  It is what you do with what you learn at these holy places.

Understanding mental illusions that cause so much pain allows you to walk on the path of spirituality with a great deal of bliss. Wisdom learnt at the feet of your Beloved is wisdom earned. Putting this wisdom to use by action is the way one succeeds in spirituality. When you have the revelation that God is in every single person on earth, you begin to stop judging. When the veil of ignorance is taken away, then the soul can breathe.  I remember asking my Baba:  “How does this veil get lifted and the chelas become free?”  He answered:  “There only has to be a desire, and it happens by the Guru’s grace.”

If you leave your mind alone to find its own peace within its ability to understand illusion, you will be better off in the long run. Ignoring the mind brings you to a place of karmic action that will bring only the reaction of God’s light. When the mind is paid attention to, then there is confusion and the senses begin to take over.

Karmic actions that create bad karma are actions that hurt others. Actions that create very bad karma are those that hurt others in the name of helping others in the name of God. Stay in your heart all this day, and dedicate all actions to the feet of your Beloved.
