Ma Jaya teaches from a depth of wisdom and practicality which allows us to return again and again to turn over the words, and bring them into our moment. Ma is a consummate story teller, using words to paint a picture or illustrate a point that otherwise might be hard to grasp. These stories are often simple but profound, similar to the way that Swami Nityananda and Neem Karoli Baba taught.

SURRENDER TO THE SELF WITHIN

There are many moments in life that one goes beyond illusion and time. This is when one rises beyond the ego. When this occurs, there is a feeling of divine reality. Everyone has moments of going beyond the ego. The ageless spirit in all of us longs to be out of illusion.  When you can visualize the clear blue sky, you begin to leave illusion behind.

This is a spiritual exercise of surrender to the Self within. In this type of meditation, the ego loosens. The ego begins to surrender to the feeling of non-stress.

To begin:  inhale and exhale very slowly and deeply, allowing the body to relax.
Look up toward the third eye; see the expanding of the blue sky. Now let go, and feel part of the sky.

Still breathing in and out deeply, notice how rich the essence of the sky is.  Be aware of how tension is leaving the body.

Bring the awareness of the breath to the heart chakra, and feel the infinity of space.  Breathing in and out, you become closer and closer to the divine Self. Looking deeply into the spiritual heart, you can actually see silence. Silence has the look and feel of deep vibrations.

As you concentrate on the heart chakra, say to yourself, “I am loved.  I am loved.  I am loved.” Keep breathing in and out for 11 breaths. After the 11 breaths, ask the age-old question: “Who am I?”  Ask from the space of your heart; for it is the heart of the universe that will answer you. After asking “Who am I?” for about five minutes, breathe in and out of your heart for 11 times. Then just sit quietly letting the thoughts simply go by.
