Ma Jaya teaches from a depth of wisdom and practicality which allows us to return again and again to turn over the words, and bring them into our moment. Ma is a consummate story teller, using words to paint a picture or illustrate a point that otherwise might be hard to grasp. These stories are often simple but profound, similar to the way that Swami Nityananda and Neem Karoli Baba taught.

THE TREE OF THE BLACK MOTHER

Inside of us all, there is a great tree of life. This tree can also be called the tree of desire, or the tree of lust. On the other hand, it can be called the tree of the Mother.

If the tree grows straight and tall, then it is the tree of the Divine Mother. If it does not grow very straight, then it is the tree of desire. If it hangs low and the leaves get no wonderful sunshine, then it is the tree of lust and greed.

When you are aware of the breath, the sun of the Gods shines through the in-breath, takes the darkness, and melts it in your heart. The out-breath then becomes filled with light also.

Let your tree be the Tree of the Mother, filled with light and love. Serve the Mother’s children and you, too, will be served.
Taste the fruit of the Mother’s Tree. It becomes ripe with love through meditation.

I myself learned of the Tree of the Black Mother from our Great Swami Nityananda. He and my Baba taught your Ma how to gently rid the tree of old leaves of used up karma, karma that has no value whatsoever. The wind god, Vayu, gently blows a slight breeze and the leaves just fall to the ground. They enhance the soil and go deep into the roots of the Mother’s Tree. Nothing is wasted in this God’s world.

Know this, and use each moment wisely and with love.

With love Ma Jaya
