Edible Gardening Basics

Learn how to easily enjoy fresh vegetables and herbs during the winter months. Participants will discuss the steps to consider in edible gardening, including: Site location, garden planning, soil amendments, water, pests and diseases, and resources. We will tour the Sustainable Kashi gardens where demonstrations will be visible including examples of different gardening methods and vegetables to grow.

Join Rebeca Siplak for this wonderful course to get you growing food in Florida. Rebeca endeavors to live her dreams and passions, growing and tending to Gaia while also living simply with integrity. She was born and raised in NE Pennsylvania, then slowly moved westward where she spent 16 years in Oregon developing her professional skills in horticulture/organic & sustainable agriculture/diesel mechanics and advocacy work with farmers and low-income Portland residents. In 2011, she chose to re-locate to Florida, where permaculture & nature-connection entered her life in more intentional ways. Rebeca lives part-time, off-grid in a tiny home and tends to gardens at Kashi Ashram, McKee Botanical Garden and private homesteads in the area. She strives to drive less, knowing her carbon footprint in this realm needs improvement!
