Reconnection and Renewal
This year our good and eminently wise friend, John Milton will focus on Spiritual Activism, given the concerns many of us have about the environmental and political threats. Spiritual practice leads to activism, as John writes of in the 12th Principle of Sacred Passage, also in the AA 12th Step, and Ma Jaya’s great teaching that “It’s not about me.”
For more information about this workshop, please contact Dr. Doug Canterbury-Counts at firstname.lastname@example.org or 772 532-5769.
John has been an environmental activist at least since 1963 when he walked across the Brooks Range, Alaska, and became the whistle-blower that protected that land from oil development for 25 years, written about in his Nameless Valleys, Shining Mountains (1969). As Editor, he published Future Environments of North America (1966) and The Careless Technology (1969) that led to his role as Presidential Advisor on the Environment for Presidents LBJ and Nixon.
Drawing on his depth of training from the 1950s in Zen, adding deep immersion in T’ai Chi and Taoism, Vedanta, Tibetan Buddhism, and Shamanism, his renown as a spiritual teacher is worldwide. His T’ai Chi and Qigong DVDs and last book, Earth Below, Sky Above, are available from Amazon
