Kashi Ashram is an interfaith spiritual community based on kindness, compassion and service, embracing the sacred practices of many traditions.
Kashi, meaning ‘City of Light’, is one of the names for the ancient Indian city of Varanasi. However, Sebastian, Florida, has its own ‘City of Light’, founded by Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati in 1976.
Kashi has rich programming every day of the week.
Embracing all religions and spiritual paths, Kashi welcomes people from all walks of life to share and find refuge in the love and devotion that have infused the 80 acre property for decades. Kashi follows the philosophy of kindness and service – as inspired by the words of Ma’s guru, Neem Karoli Baba, to “Feed Everyone”.
Sustainable Kashi seeks to provide an environment in which sustainable living can be experienced, fostered, and observed. Programs include WWOOFING, Permaculture Design Courses (PDC's), weekend immersions, ecovillage living, and a variety of workshops.
Kashi is a growing residential spiritual community. We are part of an international movement of intentional communities and ecovillages working towards cultivating spiritually, socially, and environmentally conscious lifestyles rooted in community.
Are you on a spiritual path? Are you looking to make a difference in the world? Kashi offers many opportunities to visit, connect with like-minded people, and get involved. Choose from our Kashi Immersion Workstudy, hands on service, eco volunteer, or general volunteer positions. Work exchange positions are often open too.
In order for Kashi to thrive and have a larger impact on the world, the community needs resources and support – both financial and professional. Kashi's fundraising efforts are intended to strengthen and communicate Kashi’s message of radical acceptance and the sacred nature of all spiritual paths.
Yoga, meditation, and community service are being recognized as integral aspects of a balanced life. Kashi has been involved in these practices for over 40 years.
